Well, as it so happens, I picked up the completely wrong block to embellish for CQJP January. So, of course, I don't have a blank block picture for this one. I used the stitches from the Joyful Embellishments Facebook group on this block. I've decided to make a stitch book when this is all done.

CQJP2015 registration has begun

CQ journal project registration has begun; will you be entering? I haven't decided yet. I really liked Lisa B.'s pincushions and thought that would be a terrific avenue to use to jump right in, but don't know if I can actually commit.

Tasks 4 and 5 - CQBC Class

I've made some progress with the block for Kathy's CQBC course. The course has been well written with detailed and easy to understand instructions.

This is the pieced block stitched to muslin.
Seams are marked with basic seam stitches.

Basic seams stitched.

Kathy's CQBC Class - My fabric

I signed up to take Kathy's, at shawkl.com, basic crazy quilting course. The fabric choices that we were to select had to be in the neutral or pastel tone, two of which I wouldn't normally work with for CQ, making it a tough decision for me. But, I managed to turn my scrap baskets upside down and find fabric that fits the bill perfectly.

My hussif is complete!

My completed hussif. It turned out huge, think large sheet of paper in length.  It's not perfect, but it turned out nice enough.

Hussif - Progress Update (or a late Work in Progress Wednesday)

Here is my progress on the hussif cover that I am working on. I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to do the mini cross stitches on the center patch, because that took me forever. At any rate though, I am happy with the progress.

Project for my sister

I finished the project that I was working on for my sister. I think I made great (and unique) use out of pieces of her wedding dress. She got married on Halloween, hence the orange and black color theme. Take a look.

She collects things with skulls, so I was tickled pink when I found these orange skull beads.

I had fun working on this project! My next project will be a hussif.

New Project

Well, I finally started CQ'ing again. My sister sent me her wedding dress to make something with, so I decided that I would make something cute for her. I'm going to keep it a little bit of a secret for now, so no pictures; but, I am sure that "it" will be adored. :)

Lorrie's Tree Skirt Wedges and a Special Quilt

Lorrie decided to do two completely different wedges for her tree skirt. The first one is purple and golds, and the other is traditional Christmas reds and greens. I really enjoyed working on these.

Something that a few of us from WWCQ have been working on is a "Hug" quilt for a friend of ours that is having medical difficulties. There is nothing but love in this quilt!

Christmas tree skirt wedges

I finished several Christmas tree skirt wedges over the last several weeks. The first wedge shown is Leslie's. Her's is a unique shape.

The next wedge that I finished is Marie's and is pictured below.

Creative Slump

Well, I've been in a creative slump lately; my muse has definately left the building.

What is unfortunate about this is that I have a bunch of tree skirt wedges that I need to work on. I can't even think about doing more than a basic seam treatment. But even deciding what seam treatment to do where is becoming a chore.

What do you do to break out of your creative slump? I really need to get out of this.

Saturday Thrift Store Finds + Some Other Stuff

Well, on my weekly trip to the thrift store, I found a ton of crocheted doiles and a couple of "junk" bags with trims, buttons, etc.

I also found this awesome silk jacket. Tango anyone?

The wife of a friend at work is having a baby, so I made the baby boy and his big sister each a quilt.

I found this tutorial to make these cute pincushions. In fact, I liked it so much that I had to make two. I did modify the instructions to better suit my need to get things done quickly.

Saturday Thrift Store Finds

I absolutely love going to the thrift store! We have a really great one close by that is cheap and has lots and lots of "junk". I especially love finding unique clothing to chop up for crazy quilt fabric and finding crocheted/stitched items.

Here is a picture of a few of my finds from this past Saturday.

Jacque's Tree Skirt "Wedge"

I finished and mailed off Jacque's christmas tree skirt "wedge" a few days ago. Hers was interesting because it was two pieces - a diamond shape and a fan shape.

Here are a few pictures:
